With our blogging we like to mix it up a bit and sometimes we come across an idea or product (not necessarily cleaning related) that that our clients and regular readers may also think is worthwhile knowing a bit about.  A product that I saw at the Safety in Action Show at Olymic Park in Sydney, is probably one of the best innovations I have seen. Something that I am sure building and facility managers would be interested in. The thing that hit home for me was the simplicity of the idea and the fact that this item could potentially save a life and prevent the destruction of property as a result of fire.

In essence, what this item will do is become your automated fire extinguisher when mounted and located in a position near a potential fire ignition point. Without going into all the technical details, as there is plenty of that to read on the product website, if a fire starts near this little red ball, the heat from any naked flame will light a small wick and within seconds, the ball releases, under the pressure of a small charge, a blanket of inert powder that instantly suffocates the fire. Their are plenty of demo videos on their website showing how effective this device is and the numerous applications for it.
