The Zap Cap, Essential Gear for the Commercial Cleaning Contractor

A really simple, yet potentially life saving product that I saw on display at the Total Facilities Live show last week, was the Zap Cap. This product should be a ‘must have’ piece of equipment in any cleaning contractors kit. In situations where additional electrical extension leads are run for either the vacuum cleaner or a scrubber/buffing machine, ensuring that there is no risk of electrocution as a result of an extension lead  connection being exposed to liquid, is critical, particularly for cleaning contractors using ‘wet’ machines.

The concept behind the product is really very simple. The extension lead connection is housed in a clear, unbreakable plastic shell. A very effective gasket system allows for different lead thicknesses and ensures that moisture cannot penetrate the housing. The demonstration unit they had on display at the trade show had an extension lead connection point totally submerged in liquid with no sign of any water ingress. Of course, the addition of a high quality earth leakage & circuit breaker adds to the protection of the user of the electrical appliance. It’s also critical that all electrical equipment has been tested; tagged by an authorised person. Check out the Zap Cap in action in this video.
